Calculating the necessary quantity required
Strictly controlled experiments have shown that 25-35gr of the material in ®
Fire Extinguishing Aerosol Generators is required to protect 1m3.
However, in the method of calculation of the quantity required, account is taken of the real life
factors encountered.
The use of certain co-efficients invariably results in an increase in the quantity necessary for fire extinguishing purposes.
Formula for Material Required
M = V x K0 x K1 x K2 x K3 x K4 x q
where:
M = Net weight of extinguishing material
V = Gross volume protected (m3)
K0 = Class of fire: A=1, B=0,5, C=0,75, E=1.3
K1 = Uniformity of dispersion coefficient
K2 = Loss of aerosol coefficient
K3 = Plant safety coefficient
K4 = Time of volume inert-condition
q = Extinguishing unit’s efficiency coefficient
